New Zealand director and producer Peter Jackson has broken his silence on his future in film after more than a decade without directing a film. The director of The Lord of the Rings saga has confirmed that he is not retired and is working on three different scripts, although he remains secretive about their contents.
In an interview with Screen Rant , Jackson stated that he remains fully active in the industry, despite the fact that his last film as director was The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in 2014.

"I'm writing three different scripts at the moment," he explained, adding that he's involved as a producer and writer on The Hunt for Gollum , a new project set in Middle-earth that Andy Serkis will direct. While he didn't reveal details about the other scripts, his direct involvement keeps expectations alive for a return to directing a JRR Tolkien adaptation.
He hasn't directed, but he hasn't stoppedDespite the long hiatus since his last film, Peter Jackson has continued to be involved in the audiovisual world with the production of acclaimed projects such as the documentary Get Back about The Beatles or They Shall Not Grow Old , focusing on the First World War.
In addition to his filmmaking work, the filmmaker has been involved in initiatives outside of film. He is an investor in Colossal Biosciences, a biotechnology company working to de-extinct the moa , a giant bird that once lived in New Zealand. Jackson only agreed to collaborate with the company on the condition that they focus their efforts on reviving this species. "Seeing the moa return would be an even greater thrill than making any movie," he stated, making clear his passion for this ambitious scientific project.
With a career marked by large-scale franchises and innovative documentaries, his next move is generating great excitement among his fans. Although there's no concrete date for his return to directing, his statements dispel any doubt: Peter Jackson hasn't retired, and his legacy continues to be written both in and out of theaters.
